German Castillo’s farm is located among the the Amazon Rainforest, in the southeast of Ecuador, there is the province of Zamora-Chinchipe. Coffee growers in this region are very small-scale and the biggest farm has less than 5 hectares in coffee, a region surrounded by jungle and virgin forests, making it very hard to access this farm. To reach this farm, you have to take a 2-hour drive from Zumba and then a 3 hour hiking to the farm.

Even though coffee growers in this region still have hundreds of things to learn about producing specialty coffee, is a region with very high potential and we are working towards offering them the tools and education necessary. Its remote and exotic location, makes this farm unique and priviledged for its biodiversity and microclimates. He is part of the association called ACRIM that believes that “The sustainable progress and development of communities can only be done by getting together, working as a team, and respecting the environment together.” ACRIM exists since the year 2000, however, since 2013 they have been focused on producing high quality and organic certified coffee.


We are a small batch roaster of traceable coffees based in Adelaide, South Australia.

To us 'traceable' designates two key things - quality and provenance; we only roast coffees of the highest quality and coffees that are traded in a traceable and sustainable manner. We feel as the roaster it is our role to firstly - roast only to preserve and highlight the individual qualities inherent in each coffee due to the meticulous work of the producers, and secondly - to make sure you know who those producers are and where your coffee came from.

We believe in an economically sustainable supply chain, wherin everybody from the consumer to the farmer is empowered. To that end we only roast coffees that are sourced in an ethical, transparent and responsible manner. We go to lengths to ensure all players in the supply chain are remunerated fairly and have access to the same knowledge - most pertinently those in producing countries, who are currently benefiting the least from trade and simultaneously bearing the most risk.
